How can I make my FRS Chatter!
Ok guys, sold the Escort Cosworth, now got a FRS, fitted a full mongoose and K&N cone..Sounds good, but no chatter! Not even a hint of it! I heard one on a link on Youtube, and it sounded the same as my escos! How can i get it to chatter

The Focus RS is designed not to have turbo chatter as it is fitted with a recirc dump valve - you can always remove this dump valve as i'm sure the guy on youtube has done, and then i would say in under 1-2k miles you'll be saying goodbye to your turbo and possibly some of the engine internals, pistons, etc due to the damage it will cause, and saying hello to an expensive engine rebuild

The escort cosworth has a re-circulating dumpvalve, i removed it and the turbo has been fine, are the FRS turbos more delicate than the god old T34s?

Someone local to me took their DV off....and a month or two later turbo went...dunno whether it was to do with the DV or what...but it was enough to put me off doing it lol

that would be mine,
i was running a atmosferic DV with a high tension spring so i got chatter under .7 bar and a dump jus over it, never had a turbo problem,
however it is not in bits due to melting number 3 piston but i seriously doubt it was DV related,

Being pointed by admin to this thread, all I can point to is that you've been running the FRS engine without a recirculating valve, standard or uprated, nor a basic twin piston dump valve. To get the chatter you did in those videos you posted, I'm assuming you've been nailing it around quite a bit with those key parts all blanked up. Wasn't a good idea seeing as how its a pretty tempremental engine anyway.
Basically, it runs temps of around 96C-101C before the fan kicks in, the first plug you killed (which really should have been Denso's and not crappy NGK's) was probably due to overheating

Got experience with another FRS engine (not mine) that has gone tits up in exactly the same way, due to blanking up those pressure ports. The DV or recirc is very important on the GT series turbo, especially on a troublesome FRS engine! Hence why im confident this is why you've screwed it up...
