Default Engine Warning Light

This morning my engine warning light came on and just stayed on, not even flickering to start with. I know you can see the error codes on the dash, but how do you know which one relates to the problem as there seems to be loads and is there a list of error code descriptions anywhere?

also it may also show old codes as well that havent been reset im not sure how to reset them though the dash poss by holding the button in on each code but before you try write down each code first

Any P013x codes relate to the pre-cat O2 sensor
Any P014x codes relate to the post cat O2 sensor

I would hazard a guess that you have a P0131 or a P0133 somewhere in your list

most codes don't show up on the dash so you need a bluefin or ecu reader. you could try disconnecting the battery and hope it dosn't come back.

Well i gave ford a quick ring, and they guy reset it for me for free so they aernt all bad.

Disconnecting the battery did get rid of the light if i left it off for a couple of mins, but the codes are remembered. The guy cleared everything with his little computer.

I think the problem may have been caused by me not pushing the MAF plug on fully after fiddling about the other day seeing as i was hanging off when i opened the bonnet up.

Really should check everything properly after taking things apart.
