Default central locking

Hi everyone, does anyone on the forum have any idea as to why now the cold weather has arrived my central locking has started to play up. When the temp drops to zero it works fine, however when it goes one degree or more below the system will unlock the car from the fob, enter the car sit down and the door latch will not engage in the lock. I have to leave engine running for several minutes to warm the interior before system starts to operate.so that I can close the door. My car is a focus 2.5 2008 1.6.
Thanks in advance,
Johnno

Probably a voltage thing (assuming the latch engages the lock electronically rather than mechanically). My Lexus does weird things with its locks when the voltage drops, usually when it's sat a couple days without use and in the cold too, like I'll unlock it and then after I turn the ignition on (before starting) it will randomly fire the lock solenoids a few times for no apparent reason.

Hi Thrush, thanks for reply, yeah the latch isn,t engaging manually or electronicaly. The door remains open even tho you can hear the central locking operating when the fob is pressed. The latch itself can be moved easily with a finger so that isn,t the problem. Looks like it seems to be a solenoid issue.
