Default Focus MK1 ESP differences compared to normal focus MK1? Rare?

I purchased what was advertised as a Focus Zetec 2.0 a few months ago, but when i found the original bill of sale its actually a Focus 2.0 ESP

I understand ESP stands for electronic stability protection?

Now aside from that button on the centre console to turn the ESP on and off, does it have any other features or differences from any normal 2.0 focus? Is the engine the same, suspension, trim ?

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/review...trim=Zetec+ESP

Your getting confused,, easy done with Ford and their names.

Just as they did a Zetec engine and Zetec Model, they also did E.S.P (stability control) and an ESP model, which I'd guess had E.S.P as part of the package.

well i think ford screwed registering mine when it was new as it says focus 2l zetec esp on the log book but does not have esp, just the usual traction control, abs and climate pack. its w reg if that makes any difference. can't remember whether the heated mirrors come on with the front or rear screen heater though.

I thought you pushed the electric mirror knob in for the heated mirrors to work.

Look in your hand book and it will tell you.

Heated mirrors work with the heated rear screen. The heated front screen also operates the heated washer jets.
Great cars though. I had one when I was 19, it got loads of abuse

Good cars but nothing special whatsoever.
Saw one in the local trader the other day for £750,looked alright, few gash bits but good miles, tons of t&t.
Focii in general are superb cars,a lot of them seem to be showing a few rusty bits now but of course the early ones are 12/13 years old.
I remember they brought a brand spanking new one into the ford plant back in 98/99.
None of us could work out how to open the bonnet until someone turned the ford badge round!!!
I thought it was WOW!!
aqua frost metallic 5 dr in lx trim, must have sold billions of them in that colour,a light metallic green affair which I'm sure were all familiar with.

nasty colour that is

Mines not in bad shape, ive just ground the surface rust that was coming through on the back arches (2000 reg 120k miles) and black smooth hammerite over them cant tell any different as its a black car anyway! She does go pretty well though, solid, even tho its lowered on cheap springs it still handles like its on rails

Yeah good motors overall,I had a zetec estate last year and it was one of the best driving cars I've owned,no bumps rattles or anything.everything worked perfectly (apart from the engine had a hole in it!!!!) but I bought it that way.

Only thing I found was it was juicy, only a 1.8 zetec but I couldn't get more than 30mpg out of it,which was poor IMO.that was mixed driving so I suppose it may have improved out on the motorway.

It had gone through the last 7 mots with only 1 advisory, tells you something i think.

Finally someone that agrees my mrs has an 1800 zetec and i think hers is greedy as fuck but everyone ive asked with one says no mines fine lol

Thing is she had an escort gti before (1800 silvertop) so i thought this would be better on fuel being a bit newer, WRONG

No idea about the esp thing thou hers is a t plate 3 door zetec a/c, sunrooof, heated front screen, heated mirrors, colour coded mirror caps, I've looked it up and apparently all of those were optional extras?

Pisses me off aswell cos the escort would kick the shit out of it and it was better on fuel this bloody thing dont even break a sweat untill 3k rpm try and boot it from the off and its like fuck off i havent finished my coffee yet give me time to wake up

the way to tell if it has esp is if the button by the gear stick has a skidding car if it does its esp, if not its just traction control and will have the weelspinning tyre instead, the same symbol should light up on the dash if you turn it off,

I already had the wiring loom in so it was plug & play, the outside temp sensor was bought from tezza off ffoc ,as he is parts advisor &Also works for Ford's parts dept. In fact my car has loom for cruise control ( already fitted) xenon light's etc. I will be stripping mods soon to put car back to stock, as selling next year.yunii

one way of telling the difference from the 15's to 16's rims is the 16's rim lip if flushed with tyre, whists the 15's have a lip,& you can tell from a distance
