Default gearbox and driveshafts

need new ones, can i fit any mk4 escort box and shafts, i know i'd lose the lsd but money is short and i'm fed up on shelling out on rs ones just for them to blow-up.

Any gearbox from a cvh or a 1.8D will fit. The driveshafts will fit to, if you have removed the A.B.S. system, otherwise you will need the RsTurbo or orion 1.6 ghia with A.B.S. shafts, because the belts are atached to the driveshafts. About the box, think, if the tone that was built for the car brakes in a short amount of time, imagine what will happen to a weeker one...
cheers m8!

You can buy just any gearbox and swap the LSD over. This is easiest with a box that already has a 8-bolt crownwheel. Otherwise your're looking at getting the crown wheel redrilled and tapped.

I am 90% sure thath the Escort mk5 diesel and 1.8 zetec (not 130hp) BC gearboxes have the 8-bolt crown wheel. If somebody could confirm, that would be brilliant.

Yes you are correct 8 bolts it is, the thing you have to watch is that the threads are different and this means using the bolts which came out of the diesel box or zetec box, and put the ones out of your turbo box to one side! as they do start to go in!! but as you tighten it knackers the thresd in the crown wheel!! hope this helped.
