just put the series one back together and it seems to be running rather hot
if it is left idling for a while the needle goes right up to 3/4 just below the red, then the fan comes in and lowers it a bit, when driving the car around the temperature goes right down.
Is this normal?????
The car didn't have a thermostat fitted before so i have no reference as to hot it should run
Any help appreciated

mine too ,tho mines an s2,
if youve just put her back together,im assuming you have new engine internals,of which will need to bed in,therefore the engine will be tight ,and run a bit hotter as the tollerances are higher.
remember to change your oil and filter after about 800 miles,as it will contaminate quicker, after d-burring/bedding in.

cheers lads
thats put my mind at rest now, at least it seems normal
good thinking about the 'bedding in' generating more heat, it would have taken me a long long time to have thought of that!!!!

what would i have to do to get the fan to cut in earlier??
i don't particularily want a switch inside the car, can i replace the fan switch in the thermostat with one that would make the fan cut in a bit earlier

how will i know what the thermostat is? whenever i've bought one before its just been the one for the car, if you know what i mean
do i need to specifically ask for an 80 degree one?
cheers lads
