Default 17" Wheels on Series 2

On root to getting some 17" wheels, what width is ok. I think i got told that you are safe with 17 x 7.0 however you can run into probs with 17 x 7.5.
Any advise or past experience with 17 x 7.5 would be a good help.

MIone are 17x7J and have had surprisingly few problems. Get some scrubbage on the front under hard braking but I have to be hammering it and hit a bump or something. 16's are better for handling though. Saying that I'm still keeping my 17's

Yeah thanks mate, i think i will deffo go 4 the 17 x 7, seems to be the easiest option, i recon the 7.5's will be hassle.

Cheers mate

im selling my car and put the 15's back on,but i did have 16's mondeo rims, you dont lose acceleration or top end and you get just that extra bit of grip you need NICE!, gimmeRST i bought my car from great yarmouth last year just round the corner from tescos, the bloke then also had a pink 911 porsche and used the turbo as a short runaround!

Cant speak for CarlRsT but he has told me his opinions on different size wheels...

He used to have 17x7.5's on his and he has no problems what so ever, go straight on...

He now has my 16x7's 5 spoke mondeo ones on and he finds the 17s the best as he says he thinks the 16's make it 'Skittish' and doesnt handle as well...

He is going back to 17's when the tyres are gone

He has also drove mine which is on the standard wheels and appart from the original suspension, wheel wise, it handles well...

Like i said i cant speak for him so i will get him to post when he gets back

Thanks for the comments, it seems that either 7.0 or 7.5 width is fine. But how wide can you go with wheels on a series 2 before it starts to become a problem.

7.5 are the max you can go as 8's (cossie rims) require work!

Its down to the driver on what they prefer... Also depends on your suspension set up

I prefer my 17's at the mo but may stick to 16's when I get my suspension set up

Agree with some comments here, suspension and height are a major factor, along with the offset of the wheels you are wanting to fit.

DanRSturbo fitted Momo Arrows to his car which only come in 7.5" wide and has a 30mm drop in his suspension and he has no problems at all, except when 4 people are in the car. I was impressed with that.

As for handling, I thought fitting my MO's made my car handle better than with S2 wheels on.
