Default dumpvalve?

hey all,

ive been told the rs turbos do not need a dump valve, but my friend who owns a evo told me its best to have on as will give ur turbo a longer life?

whats ur views on it?

Oh no...not this again.

You do not need one. Unless you are running BIG horsepower...over 300 BHP for example.

There is no proof that running d/v's prolong the life of the turbo..but similarly, there is no proof that not running one shortens the life of the turbo.

That's about it really in VERY short form.

ADMIN: Can we have a D/V Sticky topic explaining all (seeing as the search function is dead & we can't re-direct people to particular threads) ???

Nah mate they dont 'need' a dump valve

IMO they run far better and smoother without one anyway Its the owners choice at the end of the day.You like it,you get one

ive got one, but just got told my turbo will die, my cars only been chipped, kent cam zorzt so not huge power, ill take it off and see what shes like

Haha. Don't worry about it. How are you supposed to learn if you don't ask ??

Losing the search has made it a bit more difficult to look for stuff as well.

Like Stoo put, it's up to the owner in the end, but you don't need to run one if you don't want.
