basically the engine is very healthy, just been set up at power engineering 2 weeks ago, shes running 176bhp.
mods are, Exhaust, air filter, Power engineering Chipped it when setting it up, bleed valve ( i never touch the bleed).
was fine for the past 2 weeks, but now wont idle at all, i have to keep the revs up myself, the car pops and bangs out the exhaust a bit more than normal aswell.
litterally if ur coming up to some traffic lights or anything or u brake and the revs drop she stalls, sometimes she starts again , but others she wont start for like 1 min
does anyone have any ideas, as the car is pissing me off to the extent that i want to sledge hammer it, ive decided to sell it for sure now, just want her fixed and running mint again as she was

also could be a dizzy problem, mine popped and banged and died now and again and would start, try the pump as mentioned aswell
also check all the breather pipes are on ok, also the boost ones while ur at it!
or the fuel pump relay, pink one under the dash, could have an intermittent fault

Check for any air leaks, after a recent rolling road on my S1, the brake servo pipe worked loose and the car was almost impossible to start and when it did it died on tickover - I thought `hang on it`s not supposed to be like this` AFTER a rolling road, then we noticed the loose pipe, tightened it up and hey presto!!
Check for any loose pipes, tighten your jubilee clips on all the pipes etc.

Check all the air pipes, turbo's hate un-metered air, it messes with there brain.
I recently had the same prob, irratik idle mostly at 300 revs then dying, everyone said air leek and after messing around for a month couldn't find any leaks. Then last weekend was changing the valve steam seals and noticed the rocker cover gasket had a chunk missing, whala problem solved.
Moral of story, turbo's hate un-metered air.

The idle speed valve (thats what it does but not the proper name) its the bit with the black pipe going into it on the right with the oxodised bit of metal with no pipe connected!

The idle speed valve (thats what it does but not the proper name)
A) Take this device off and clean with brake cleaner inside. then squirt with WD40.
B) The earth for this is on the wiper motor bracket. check connected and clean.
Check things like oil dipstick in place correctly and Oil filler cap sealed.
Also the vacuum pipes.

right, just an update,
Ive now checked the Pipes, Idle Control valve, they are both ok, i disconnected it, the same prob persisted when i started it revs die instantly.
who thinks this could be a Fuel Pump Problem? its just this car drives spot on going down the A3 , ive done 500 miles now with the car like this, nothing wrong with the cars top end speed or acceleration.
just pops and bangs out the exhaust a bit more than normal.
thanks for the help guys

the reason i say the pump,is that when driving along, the pump is flowing quite freely, pluss the vac pipe to the tank will give some pressure,to boost fuel flow,if your pump is on its way out,the impeller could be slipping causing erratic fuel flow whilst under little pressure is supporting the feed, like mine done,
BUT HEY! (in an american/bronx/italian/goodfellas accent)
"im juss a fookin painta, who doesnt give a shyit!" " know warra mean?"

sounds deffo like an air leak, mine used to have a dodgy dip-stick seal (was actually a bit of insulation tape..
), but anyway, when up on high boost, it used to push the dipstick up a little opening the seal and causing the exact same problem, sounds great to drive, popping and bangin everywhere, but as soon as you get to a junction you look a tw*t as it conks out on you...so if you aint alrady, check the dipstick is nice an tight..filler cap has a good seal, and the rest of the breather system, pipe from the rocker down to back & the flame arrestor on the left (cam belt side)

the dipstick thing seems ok, always nice and tight,
Another thing ive noticed is , Fuel Econemy is getting WORSE and WORSE so i normally get 25MPG, its slowly going down and down.
its now down to 15MPG!!!!! which is killing me, im doing 500miles a week now and im spending ALOT of cash lol

could be a fuel pump problem then mate, or the relay, or the fuel ecu, all worth checking, and replacing your fuel pump is always a good idea, because this is a major factor why so many rst's blow up, coz the fuel pump is tried, it may seem ok, but a test can prove its tried, mine had the problem, i thought it was fine, but APT tested it and it wasnt flowing smooth!
