Cold Start
Hi chaps.
What causes a car to run "lumpy?" in the mornings? I think all of my RST's have done it, even my new one does with a low mile engine in, it will do it for 5 or 10 secs as if it runs on 3 but then is fine.
What causes RST's to do this?
Cheers

mine does it a little bit, 5 secs, its had all new sensors, but the injectors i know are 120K miles old,
i think i have all my old sensor, if you put a pic up so i know which one it is, you can have it , i will post it, just pm me your address,i just changed all the sensors anyway when i got the car, as i knew i was going to have it for ever.

Might just do that then, well the car is getting a good service this week so will see how it is after that. Will check the cold start is actually plugged in
and then see about the injectors but for now I am not too worried because it only happens when it is left overnight.
no quite the same but mine never started very well when cold, disconcted the cold strt injector starts fist turn now, think these go wrong and over fuel the car when cold, which will make it run cr*p, to be honest im sure its not needed unless its about -20
I'm gonna asume your S2 is MFI, in which case, they run lumpy at cold start. Always do.
Basicly is the fuel not vapourising enough in the cold air to burn effectivly.
The revs will be higher anyway at cold start, usually about 1300rpm. But my old one used to bottom out and twitch like a mo fo.
EFI ones shouldn't at all.
The only reason I ever disconnected my cold start injector was because it used to flood the engine all the time.
So chuck in some injector cleaner and see what happens. If not take it to your local tunup shak and get you injectors cleaned and the flow rates checked. You shouldn't have to replace injectors, they usually just need a clean.

i've had this problems for feckin ages and it does my head in, also for the first few minutes it idles at about 300rpm, and if you rev it it will drop rite off and stall sometimes,
been told it could be the air flow meter? sound right?
think i may change the injectors as well then
also whats this cold start valve thing?
cheers
cawood

lol, mine is nothing like that, it dont stall or rev irratically, just for 30 secs or so it runs crap. I think the cold start is for extreme temps for starting the car, ppl say it is not needed and can flood ur car by putting excess petrol through
