does a head allways need skimming
i picked up a turbo yesterday done 20miles and the headed tank started steaming like a kettle as it examined more today the rad fan was dissconnected and there is no oil in the water (not that there is much left ) and there was not any present in the rad either been quoted £120 to do the head gasket once they have block tested it (but that has only costed me a pint

sounds like what happened to mine when it first went , the header tank was steaming and there was loads of white smoke and that 'pinking' sound. i paid my mate £150 to do it and that included all the parts but we didnt skim it. the next day it blew again and i cant afford to do it again. what im doing is taking the head off myself and taking it to be skimmed. then my mates helping me put it back together coz im not clued up on mechanical work . This way i save loads of money ! see my post in this forum , ive just added some pics
