My fuel gauge is all over the place and my car is i the garage having some work done, the chaps working on it have said the sender does look to be faulty - bit of a bodge done in the past... But we are struggling to find another one, i have been reading up the 88 spec are different to the 90 spec?
This is a 90 spec car but converted to EFI and running a ZVH , not sure if that makes any difference but would anyone know the part number for the sender unit? Unfortunately no numbers on the one currently on the car?? Some photos attached...
The garage put the car back together, put some fuel in and it was weaping from the side of the tank so now i need a new tank and sender unit. I have collected as i cannot afford their costs for a new tank and they were unable to fix the sender unit so i didnt fancy paying another Ł200 to get the tank off and on and not have a working guage.
I have found the 90 specs are the smaller senders but when i have sent across the below e bay link the garage have said this is not the one on the car - Any ideas what the above sender is??
Thank you unfortunately not I think l I will need to buy a few items and make sure I can return them as I was convinced this was a 90 spec set up but with the garage saying this sender is tiny and one they have never seen it has thrown me a little, what I struggle with is knowing the parts to buy I stupidly thought it would be easy 🤪

hi mate when you say tiny what do you mean? The 90 spec one is smaller than the 88 spec but how small can you pull some measurements off the diameter of the top section that locks in?
regards
Blake
Yeah that was my thoughts initially were its a 90 spec small sender but the chaps in the garage who took the photo said this was smaller than any sender they have seen before? No codes on the top .
I have found this tank on e bay a new one but it has one hole at the top, the one I have now has 2 holes any idea what the 2nd hole is for on my original tank?
Unfortunately I cannot get to it but I have a good fellow who will take it off for me so I will just get all the parts before hand so he can fix it , just need to get the correct tank ..
Hi mate its annoying isnt it, not sure what the second hole is for? Looks like someone has retro fitted a new sender into the tank? Here is a picture of my tank. My Rs is also 90 spec on a H so definitely a 90 spec, hopefully it will help
So yours has a 90 spec smaller sender - If so that confirms the sender i have got and the tank here will be good... (Hopefully)
hi mate I believe that fuel tank you are looking at is for the 88 spec car look at the age fitment, thats the larger sender this is the one for a 90 spec car as you can see the sender hole is a lot smaller
Thank you, i have asked them to confirm the hole size so i can get it ordered and maybe just maybe before summer it will have an MOT and wont break down again (Maybe) ha ha
I know what you mean mate, Ive been trying to get mine on the road since last year finally thought I had cracked it about a month or so ago but the release bearing has gone in the clutch so its going to the garage next Friday for that and a mot so hopefully we might be out and about at the same time!
I have decided to buy 2 tanks and i have just ordered a sender, hopefully i can get a match with the sender and then get it all sorted with paint ... Frustrating the tanks i have found are not galvanised so i need to get the painted - Not a massive issues but another step before the old Escort is back on the road, one more week!!!
