Before 88/After 88, what is the difference and are they interchangeable?

 

Before 88, top and bottom halves grooved, after bottom plain top grooved or vice versa can't mind. As to interchangeable, don't know.
Have a std new set of pre 88 Burton's sent in error years ago but bought a half and half set for my 90 car.
