Default Please help before I set the car on fire.

Hi guys, I need help I’ve recently rebuilt my engine due to bent conrods. Now it won’t start I’ve got a spark and the timing is spot on. There is fuel coming out of the 4 unions on the metering head when I push the flap down but none when I don’t push it down. It is bobbing when it’s being cranked over. I’ve tried it with the cold start valve disconnected and it makes no difference. I’ve also unplugged the black box on the side of the metering head and that makes no difference. Someone suggested to tow it in 2nd gear but would that help?

bridge the fuel pump so it runs permanently and push flap down while checking injectors...are you sure that fuel pressure is something like 5.-6bar....and change spark plugs..

I’m going to put some new plugs in. I tried to bridge the fuel pump but nothing happened I’m not sure if I was bridging the right terminals. ( I followed a guide on here).

I’ve just changed the plugs and no difference but the plugs aren’t wet.

Do you have an air leak?

Try to start the car with a second person slowly pushing down the flap of the metering unit while the engine is cranking...

From EX Auto sparks....fully conversant with the Bosch " K " & "KE " injection system, first if you want to Test & Hear pump running without turning engine, you bridge Terminals 30 and 87 only....pump must run...if not ensure 30 [ red terminal ] is live without ignition on as you may have blown a fuse ?.....now re - cold start...forget at this moment all the parts on the injection system, can advise later for you...You see with 4 good compresions....4 good sparks at plugs....these cars will burst into life re - the 5th injector...it must do...neat petrol into manifold.." they allways do "...so do a Test at the 5th injector first..undo the feed pipe to the 5th...pop into safe container , be carefull hear...bridge 30 / 87..you should have a very strong flow as its on the main fuel line..ie 85/90 psi..ensure you have decent amount fuel in Tank as very low afects pressure...it must burst into life...yes it may petor out after a few seconds...but the engine should and must run, i can advise the rest after...Peter.

I’ve tried that it didn’t work. I’m thinking of trying to tow it in 2nd.

The 5th injector only come live when the starter is "cranking" and has to have the Thermal Timer { Brown plug } under manifold connected. Peter
