Default S2 RST Fuel pump not priming...

Just after some advice please. Been out of the seen for quite some time, just started getting back into reviving my old RST. For some reason, before firing the engine up, normally the fuel pump primes, you hear that loud buzzing noise. For what ever reason its not working, no priming. Therefore, no fuel, she wont start. She is on standard MFi fuel management.
I haven't yet picked up a spanner, just wanted to pick your brains first and see if any of you had this problem, and what you did to resolve it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What he ^^ said. They have timer relays though, which is how the prime works.

I believe these are expensive and difficult to find.

Upon cranking I imagine the pump should run?

I think this is the correct one for the Escort Mk4 Rs turbo. I thought these are still available from FORD.

These fuel pump relays for the Escort Mk3 are expensive now.

Ah ok, the pinouts different though isn't it, hence you can't use any SPST relay?

Yes, But you can find cheap 'black' relays and I'm sure volvo used the same relay too.

Personally if your S2 is having problems, I'd be looking into the Fuel Pump relay overrider loom loom, But the standard relay will act as a trigger for the new loom and fuse/relay. You'll get a better voltage at the pump and will eliminate all the issues the cars suffer.

Massive thanks for all your comments, and thank you for the links. I called my local ford spares dept, they said they still do them....a part number would help. Well will take my old one out and take it with me, I am sure that will have a part number on it. Fingers crossed, hope it is just the relay and nothing more serious.

Thanks again.
