Default oil cap

For some reason my oil cap keeps blowing off its a brand new cap cuz for the same reason it blew off and I lost it, it has a rubber retaining strap attached i would of lost it if that wasn't there, there is a rubber seal on the inside of the cap but it just doesn't seem to stay on any advice whether its just a case of it happening or whether something could be wrong?

Is it loose fitting as it is? As in can you slide in on/off with no resistance? If so sounds like a crap cap, if there is a bit of resistance then its either blocked breathers or piston rings causing excessive breathing and blowing it off.

You dont need much force to take it off it slides up and down a little the rubber rings on the inside of the cap holds it on better but you dont need much force to take it off.

I did hear it could be the breather i will look into that cheers

Sounds to me like its breathing heavy, hence blowing the. Cap off, common problem on a cvh

Has it got a up rated breather system ? And is it tuned?

I reccomend a bailey breather kit on any tuned cvh

I had this happen to me, the cap seal didnt really 'stick' to the rocker cover so i put some thin fabric on to hold the cap into place, while i was waiting for the AS st/st cap to arrive as that has a grub screw to keep the cap in place.

A good mod is to fit the AS breather and kit, its better than the baileys one and includes the outlet for the inlet manifold that the baileys one does have.

All of the above information is correct, but I wouldn't just fit a new breather system without first making sure this is your problem!
Clean out your existing setup and do a compression test to see how well the rings are sealing and go from there.
