Hi, I want to change my gearbox over to an ib5 gearbox... But nobody I ever ask seems to know exactly which one I need?.. I.e. from which car?

All I know is that It needs to be a front starter type... And was told to go look around a scrappy for one haha.

So if I was to ring a gearbox company and ask for a gearbox, which exact car would I need to tell them that I have?

MK5/6 escort diesel gearbox.

Use the diesel final drive with the ka gearset and your RST's lsd.

Be like a standard box (give or take a few mph in each gear) but stronger.

I'd recommend getting a puma gear linkage to go with it.

P.s if you have a zetec instead of a cvh a rear starter ib5 is a third of the price of a front starter

 

You can also use a puma 1.7 final drive with the Ka gear set if you want identical ratio's to the Erst bc box. However, the Erst LSD will need modifying.

 

For me I'm not fussed by the ratios to much, just want to be able to use it

But if you don't have a lot of power I wouldn't want any longer than a rst

 

Dnt waste your time or money with the ka box just a mk6 escort diesel no turbo box with series 2 LSD job done
