Default Sunroof doesn't open!!

Escort turbo s2 doesn't work! I turn the leaver clockwise to lift it up but only then left hand side lifts up n the right side doesn't, I try to wind it anti clockwise and the left side starts going back but the right side doesn't ! Also if u look at it from the outside the right hand side is dropped in abit n doesn't sit flush!
Hot weather on its way and need it to work! Any ideas?

Just had the whole sunroof out it appears the winding mech has gone! The cable n wire closer to the front of the car is all twisted n doesn't sit in the channel for the winder to move it! That's why the left side works and the right don't! Is there awy to sort this or do I need a whole new sunroof and runner system??

May av 2 take glass panel / frame off , takin ed lining out u still wont b able 2 get at cables ,
Just hope u can un do the small screws that hold said frame in place 2 runner frame wrk , u can c the fixings from inside car wen slider pushed back into roof , they tend 2 sieze up though .
Does sound like a cable has snaped or winder mechanism jumped .

Yep new one required. I hope you got a deep pocket?

Becareful who and where you buy a replacement from, i fell for that trick.

The factory fitted one on mine seized up, it was the winder that packed up, so paid £80 for a replacement which had rusty sunroof frame. I sat it down on my carpet to work on it, the bloody cable was shot and the sunroof wound in at an angle.

That was 2 binned, so i left the car how it was for some time, i sourced a really good replacement for £140 and fit it. That was 5 years ago now.

I've since gone carbon fibre roof, and actually sold the whole sunroof unit about 3-4 weeks ago.

If i still had it, you could of had it off my for the same price i paid, £140.

Anyway as i said they are quite hard to source and you need to expect to see a high price tag on them.

If you are not staying factory look then your best bet is to fork out about £600 for a carbon roof and non sunroof headlining. You can then sell your sunroof headlining for a good price providing its not ripped.

Hi kreg yeh it was a lol bit tough! Unscrewscrews on cover bracket mate n slide it back into the roof! Wind up ur sunroof and u will see 3 screws on brackets each side mate( mine were rusty as n shot) but I got em off, then the roof lifts off! There is screw that hold the winder in place inside the car! Take that off n undo screws on top of runners and it just pulls out bud!

That worked out pretty well for me dude! Hope that helps
