my car wont tick ova when cold?????? help!!!!!!!!!!
my orion turbo (escort running gear) starts fine in the morning but wont tick ova & is abit jerky on low revs??????? but 2 min down the road when the engine is alitle bit warm its perfect???? any idears??????????
i disconnected then reconnected the cold start valve & it ran ok 1 morning but as soon as it got cold again it was doing it again.
today ive changed the cold start valve for another 1 i had in the shed & still no joy!
could it be any of the other sensors on the engine???????????
any help would be great as my mrs is useing the car & its a pain in the arse keep stalling at every junction in the morning!
cheers

try disconnecting the cold start multiplug then see how it starts. If theres no difference then take one of the pipes off the aux air valve and blow down it, if you cant then that means the valve is knackered (it should be fully open when cold). If thats ok then check the wiring to the electro magnetic pressure actuator on the side of the metering head, I had a very similair problem to you and it turned out the wires going to this were badly corroded.

My rs doesnt start unless u hold metering flap down, it doesnt get used much at all really, thot that was the prob, but took it a good 100mile spin, came bk, next day, wldnt start until fla held down a bit? any idea. cold start valve disconected it was fine once.

If you look behind the inlet manifold its the largish valve with 2 hard plastic pipes going into it, one comes from near the throttle body and the other goes to the back of the inlet manifold.

When i start up my car when cold it missfires for about 15 seconds and then clears it seems like its running to rich when cold but once the engine is started the revs drop to low around 400 - 500 rpm so would any one know whats going on.
As for that Air aux air valve one way of testing it is to disconnect the black plastic pipe that runs from the valve and go into the throttle housing, then you should see a little hole take a small screw driver and stick it in to the hole, you should be able to feel like theres something hard inside thats the valve. Put the pipe back on then start the engine ,run it for a few mins and then repeat what ive just said this time when you put the screw driver in the hole it should just go threw and come out the other end of the valve then you know its working .So when the engine is cold the valve is closed and when warm its open
