Brand new filter so it shouldn't be blocked, yeah the pumps priming. Just seems very strange as I had it ticking over then i go to it again and nothing....

Have you had a mate try pressing the metering flap as you try start it, i think it is due now to the metering unit needing setting up as if your OLD filter wasnt letting loads of fuel threw and your new one is, you could be flooding or starving the engine

I'll get the missus to hold the flap down for me 2moz, I was going to take it for a set up soon anyway as it was holding back on boost plus the old filter was leaking so i fort that might of been the culprit

Spark's ok you said.
Fuel pump primes, but does it run when you try to start? -> Fuel pump relay fault. Don't think it's the signal from dizzy or ECU because ignition works.
I don't think the new filter causes the problem. When the old one would have been too restrictive, you already had the problems when you changed the filter. And the car would have caused problems with the old filter.
Next step is to check the fuel system. Easy with a pressure testing equipment

If he changed the filter the fuel flow could have changed mate, doesnt take anything at all to change the MFI fueling even a little adjustment will change the starting of it etc, we had loads at ford like this when i was there

I think your right about the fuel flow as the old one was leaking alot, So now its probably over fueling.

Cool you have the answer now your over fueling, turn the adjuster on the metering unit (alan key) one full turn anti clockwise then very gently try the flap, it only needs about a milimmeter at a time until it fires, if no fire after a few seconds back the screw again and then do the flap again, once its fired i will tell you how to set fuel which is very easy with a C0 machine for a trick we used in the old days that will get it bang on
