ARP Con Rod Bolts
Hello all,
My friend has purchased these bolts for his CVH but the muppet has lost the instructions.
From memory when i built my engine there was a 3 stage torque setting but i cant seem to find what torque they need to go too.
Can Anybody help...?
Cheers

hi, just fitted these to my s2 the settings are as follows;
use grease on the threads
stage 1 23nm
stage 2 losen then retorque to 23nm
stage 3 losen then retorque to 23nm
as these are stretch bolts, hope this helps, cheeRS, rob.

The correct torque setting for ARP bolts (8mm) is 34nm. This is with ARP lube applied to the threads. Using regular oil as a thread lube I would use at least 40nm.
ARP bolts are NOT stretch bolts.
Using 23nm torque figure is just a ticking time bomb - Don't do it!

they are stretch bolts, and 23nm torque, i have arp instructions, if you over tighten you will trash the bearings as many have before, best thing to do would ring arp to be on the safe side, like i said i rebuilt my engine with them and went off the instructions with no problems at all. cheers, rob.

For a start which version are they? For standard rods or for aftermarket as there are two types for the CVH.
If they are for standard rods then its 22lb/ft with ARP lube
Non-standard rod type are 45 ft lbs with ARP lube. 65 ft lbs with oil (30w).

Haz87 is correct!
22lb/ft is not the same as 23nm.
23nm is only 17 lb/ft not enough.
RSturbo1991 is providing incorrect figures. nm is not = lb/ft

As per Canada! Not something you want to torque incorrectly so even when torquing up make sure you have set your wrench to the right format (lb/ft or nm - your choice but they are not the same value)
