Default Has anyone ever tried a straight through exhaust on a S2?

Having a jap car background I've heard a few turbo cars on straight through pipes.

We all know that the turbo acts as a silencer and the from what I remember the straight through systems sounded nice, you could almost hear the turbo spinning and they weren't boomy on the motorway.

My scorpian system booms terrible at motorway speeds.

Has this been done or is it a no no on the RST?

What impact would it have on the running of the car by removing the one and only silencer at the rear and replacing with a straight pipe?

Just an idea on a boring winters night...

I might just get some stainless pipe, find my stainless wire and fire up the Mig. Be a laugh if nothing else.

You can buy an electronic valve for best of both worlds. Just fit it before back box and wire it up. Flick the switch for straight pipe.

I did this years back when i had my rst, i removed the lid of the box, cut all the gubbins out, and replaced it with a straight through pipe.
Sounded real deep and nice and idle, but when you booted it and let off, it sounded like a raspy mk2 escort, i took it straight off and SOY bought it

A mate had a stainless with 1 silencer with the no baffle. It was noticeably louder but too boomy for my liking.

Went straight through on a cossy, sounded like a roaring lion, you could also hear the turbo spooling when you revved it, local plod didn't approve of it so had to add some silencers in
