hey folks the issue im having is a weird one. i have put the engine from my red escort into my cabby and now it wont run right. the engine hasnt ran for about a year but when it did it was spot on.
the problem im having is if i crank it over with the fuel pump on it just floods and will not fire at all but if i turn the fuel pump off then crank it over after a few cranks it will fire up and run for about 5 seconds then cut out? i think im now getting fuel coming out the turbo elbow as its just getting to much fuel.
anyone got any ideas?? cheers alan

Similar problem to i was having, Trying to start with the pump it just flooded, when cranking without the pump it's clearing out whats in the cylinders, thats why it dies after a few seconds, tried unplugging the cts and it started off the key without flooding. give that a bash and if it runs, if so, new sensor.
I'm no expert though.

Hello mate stating th obvious but you are trying to fix an issue via an Internet forum and it is rare that the same problem someone else had could be the exact same as your problem... Best advice is if your unsure see a specialist. However I have the following advice and things to try.
FACTS
1. It is oBvious that something is asking your car to massively over fuel
2. The squeaking noise is your injectors letting fuel into the bores ie leaking slightly if the flap on the metering head flap is closed.
3. Unplugging the box on the metering head should tell you if the fuelling fault is on the electrical or mechanical side of the fuelling.
POSSIBILITIES.
You MIGHT have a sticky metering head.
You could have a badly adjusted metering head
You might have a broken wire to one of the following
Tps, coolant temp sensors, auxiliary air.
Buzz these out separately using multimeter and the Haynes manual.
I would GUESS that due to the amount your over fuelling its a metering head issue on the mechanical side of things.......
Hope this helps.

I think u may have just sorted it mate i remeber i trying pushing dont the flap to see if itwas free and it was tuff on the way down but came up nice and free and now it flaps about free with no pressure. So i think the lil bit that gets pushed up when the flap does down is maybe siezed up would that maybe make sence?
