Default Cooling fan, guage reading and other cooling related stuff.

Just picked up my S2 and it drives very nicely. However, the fan is on a switch and the previous owner said to turn it on when the needle gets to the 'M' of Norrm. The notes from the previous owners in the history file say when it gets to between 'O' and 'R'.

the engine seems quieter when it get do O and R, so I suspect its the right temp. (About halfway if I've lost you).

Where would the fan come on as standard of its own auto switch?

I also suspect it has no thermostat as on the motorway the guage drops almost to the bottom.

I'm thinking fit a thermostat that may have a lower opening temp than standard. Where can I get these? Any recomendations?

It has had a new rad recently, but the notes about the cooling fan in the history file go back to before 2008.

LOL, you can't possibly gauge when to activate the fan, hence why it's on an automated system.

Correct re the stat, I believe "MSD" do a 82 stat, whilst your there get an uprated fan switch from them and fit this and get the fans working properly, also be wary of the wiring, I bet some numpty has bodged the wiring and run a live directly from the battery to the switch etc!

MSD= Motorsport Developments, they are based in Blackpool, as I say they sell the parts.

Yeah, i'd fit a standard 88c stat or an 82c one and have a look at re-fitting the standard "auto" fan switch.

As above mate. I would talk to MSD about their stat and fan switches.

Rob.
