Default Best route of sorting out air blocks

Strange one here, always managed to sort air locks out on these cars.

Engine runs up to temp. IE gets hot, the water in header tank is cold, rad is hot, turbo cooler is cold temp, gauge doesn't move on dash and heater blows out cold air.... Then the engine cuts out. Never come across this in all the years of owning it.

Not sure if its an air lock or not, as ran the engine with header tank cap both on and off and dropped the water out twice now.

thermostat housing is quite rusty in the inside.

should point out i understand these cars are slef bleeding.

Also done a search and noticed people say remove the return hose from the stat to tank.
