Cossie Brakes upgrade & Pedal "Spongy"

Cossie Brakes upgrade & Pedal "Spongy"
Hi guys
Last weekend I worked to fit the front cossie brake conversion to my RST:
4wd cossie calipers
2wd 283mm brake disc (had to machine to 281mm or they rub over the caliper carrier)
4wd ferodo ds2500 brake pads.
Now I notice that the pedal feel is "spongy" with more pedal travel than before with the standard brake RST calipers.....
ive heard lots of talk about removing the ABS. Will it improve the brake pedal fell if i remove it?
I´m thinking in remove the ABS at the same time as the old worn clutch, it is slipping.....

Edit: Brake master cylinder is the standard 25mm with 2 outputs.....

Try giving them a bleed again, might still have air in the system. I removed the ABS from mines with the box inplace but as ur clutch is slipping u would have 2 disconnect it 2 remove the box anyway. Can't say it improved the pedal feel as it was about 4 years ago I removed mine but as the system is shit I'd remove it anyway.

Try giving them a bleed again, might still have air in the system. I removed the ABS from mines with the box inplace but as ur clutch is slipping u would have 2 disconnect it 2 remove the box anyway. Can't say it improved the pedal feel as it was about 4 years ago I removed mine but as the system is shit I'd remove it anyway.

i unbolt the two bolts, pulled cylinder away from servo. i put my foot down on pedal to push it out from servo, then my mate screwed the nut on end a quarter turn each time until it felt right.
if u do it too much brakes will go to tight to move lol as we found out, just take it for a little drive each time n test em.
we did mine n from my house to mot center they were locked very tight. lossened it off a touch n now there amazing,
we bled them for hours before we tried this n they were just always spongy, even had my servo pressure tested.
not sure if its the correct way but ive done 600 miles plus since n there mint
if u do it too much brakes will go to tight to move lol as we found out, just take it for a little drive each time n test em.

I´ll do as least 100 miles normal driving and if the pedal feel not goes better will try it...

A friend told me that too, the brake calipers and pads need time to get the full working efficiency, but I think this has nothing to do to the "travel" and "pedal feel".
Also he told me as I changed to a bigger caliper piston, maybe the master cylinder needs to do more pressure to fill more fluid in to the caliper to move the piston than the standard RST brake caliper, increasing the pedal travel with the "spongy feel"......
Maybe removing the ABS system will solve it?ż?ż?

when i replaced the brake lines on my fiesta the previously good brakes felt really crap until the next day when they got a bit of heat into them as i washed everything down with water and it was probably just he pads that were wet
and this was on a fiesta with 240's originally that went directly to 300's and mondeo calipers

You did have rear wheels on the ground with all the weight on them when bleeding? The rear load sensing valves need to have weight on them for the brakes to bleed properly.

You get used to it anyway and cossie brakes are a great mod!
