spent 6 months welding mine
4 floor pans, inner and outer sills, crosssmember, batt tray, front and rear panel, boot floor, screen pillar bottoms, door bottoms, lower rear corners, fuse box, inner wings top and bottoms both sides, rear chassis legs, and a non sunroof roofskin.

couldnt weld for shit when i started practiced a lot on loads of scrap steel, then went for it with lots of guidance from a good mate.

it all depends how much you want the car and how much you want to spend

have done mine on a budget and all in id say 1k on panels, metal, primer(acid etch and zinc) gas and wire

its been great fun one hell of a learning curve and very very rewarding

i think its been worth every penny and when mines done i am doing an old mini for the wife

I would never have scrapped it if i had of done then what would i have had to do lol

Beyond economical repair IMO, it's just a mk4 escort after all and yes I still have mine and love it.
