Default Master Cylinders Size - Help Please!

What was supposed to be fitted to an S2 RS Turbo?

Currently got a 25 bore which is basically knackered, only replacements are 23.8mm from motor factors.

Car has rear disc conversion and i'd like to fit my cossie callipers at some point, am i best sticking it out for a 25.4mm seal kit or will the 23.8mm be ok?

Going to ring Bigg Red monday morning and see what they can do, will the 25.4 master with cossie fronts and rear disc conversion have similar pedal feel to an xr3 with 23.8 and standard brakes all round?

Not very clued up on cylinder sizing and the info i've read is about aftermarket stuff.

Help please!

The 25 hasnt been available for ages now. Most people have ended up on 23's, myself included and alot are running cossie fronts/disc back or cossie fronts/drums and not had a problem

Thats reassuring, from what i've seen Bigg Red have started doing more master cylinder kits so i'll ask them if they can do one suitable for the 25 since thats what i've got. Failing that i may have a contact through someone who works closely with AP who can put a kit together. Possibility of discounted AP callipers too, but i didn't get too much into that convo with him as currently spent up!

Failing that i'll get a 23.8 fitted and enjoy being able to stop!

I tried a 23.8 master cylinder and it would not give me any pedal at all so got another 25 bore from a breaker, sorted.

Must have bled about 5 litres through the 23.8 master cylinder to be sure! Not sure if anyone else has had issues with 23.8?

I did at first with my 3i, until I learned you've got to manually bleed the master before fitting. Either on bench or on car which is loads messier but easier if there's two of you.

Best way is clamp in vice, fill resovoir with fluid and connect some pipes to the outlets, put ends of pipes in resovoir under fluid level and move cylinder with screw driver etc until no air comes through pipes. Clear tube is best obviously.

I did it bolted to the servo and used my thumbs over outlet holes and bled similar to normal brake bleeding. Was perfect after that. Obviously rebleed rest of system once connected up again afterwards.

Job done.

Cheers dude. Think this one is 4 outlet but with two blanked off, running bias adjuster to rear discs. I will at some point add another line to the front from the M/C. I've got two spare blanking unions too that came with last cylinder I bought. I'll see how I get on with this kit tonight if it matches perfectly happy days my 25 is sorted.

Any more info on this? Servo bolt straight up? Master cylinder and servo size? Pedal travel right?

Don't mind swapping to newer bits cause eventually older stuff simply won't be around! I did consider something from a mondeo or similar for my cab but I don't have the space on that.

Pretty much a bolt on job and no cutting required. My mate has done his but did need to space the servo out from the bracket to get the pedal right. He said he would have modded the pedal but couldn't be bothered to work around his roll cage lol. Here's a pic before the bracket was put on. You will need the bracket from the sportka too

That could be a worthwhile swap for my cab. Cheers!

Is the rod in the centre of servo threaded? I know some are and can be adjusted to set pedal up.

Doesnt look to be much travel in the cylinder, hows the brakes feel compared to before and what bore is new one?
