oil in intercooler blue smoke
as my old turbo started to wail i replaced it with a overhauled hybrid unit. i have no doubt it is kosher, it looks new, is nice and quiet at there was zero play. the person i got it from off here is also spot on and offered a limited warranty. the price was very good so if it is the turbo ill sort it without hassling the lad i got it from. i have covered 50 miles on this turbo and only just noticed a puff of blue smoke coming off the throttle. having removed the top boost hose i noticed oil residue.
when i removed the old turbo i noticed the same residue in the same place. my question is (optimisticlly) could oil left in the intercooler from the old turbo be whats been burnt off and if so how many miles does it typiclly take to rid? i never noticed smoke on the old t3 but thats not to say the seals werent fucked. more that i never looked closely as i knew it would be replaced.
any ideas chaps.
