I'm 30 now and I have just treated myself to an RS1600i and Series 1

I used to have all this sort of stuff when I was younger, 2 S2's, 3 S1's a cossie saph, turbo mk3 escort cabby, then I kind of thought I was getting a bit old for these so I went into BM's and golf GTI's and the like.

But I have to say that there is no better feeling then being sat 1" from the rear bumper of a scooby and thenpulling out and overtaking at 120 and seeing the guys face as a c reg escort goes past.

I had a 325i coupe for a bit that cost a fortune to buy and run, people used to love the way it looked and it did drive very well but when you get blown away by an older escort you think to yourself "why do I spend all this money, and then get beaten by an old escort"

So I an now that guy in the old escort again and it's great, I work for an IT company and the car park is full of BM's, Merc's, Jag's and porkers, but everyone I work with has commented on the Series 1, it's timeless, and the people who call us boy racers don't have a clue.

When I met my gf she said she wasnt into cars, and that was proven by the Micra she drove, she had a go in my turbo cabby and put her Micra up for sale straight away, since then she has had an MX-5, 2 205 GTI's and she now drives a 205 CTI with 1.9 wheels and soon to add a MI-16 lump with a turbo.

People who say they are not into cars are not into cars cos they have never had a decent one, they just drive bland rubbish and have no clue on what they are missing out on.

My gf parents spent Ł16k on a megane and it has been back to the garage 16 times in 2 years and they have just traded it in and got 5k for it, in that 2 years the gf car never went wrong and it's F reg and still worth what we paid for it.

well im 17 nearly 18 and have a s1 and my brother who is 21 also drives the car (more than me)...this is my first rs but hopefully not my last...want to get a saph cos or a frst and work my way up to an escoss...and then build a s1 proper bufty style just to rememba these days! !

Im 24 & still have my first RS. Ive been called a boyracer a number of times. I just shrug my shoulders at there ignorance. The thing is, they call it an XR3i. If they dont know the diffrence between a 3i & an rs, then there obviously the clueless one's. Thought the vents, wheels, skirts, RS badge etc would be a big hint.

24 this month, on my third, and best, s2 in red, made the desision to get rid of it a few times but bottled out last minite, its my daily driver at the mo but thats gunna change soon when i get a runaround
g/f(wife a week on sat!!!) claimed to hate the escorts when we first got together but she loves drivin it and blowing away boyracer novas
she is also on her second 3i cabbie so she cant hate them that much

I'm 36 ! (Still got me own teeth too) ! Well most of em. Had mine for 4 months. She's me 1st RS but wanted one since they came out but had mortgage, family etc. Treated mysell at long last now. Only people that say its a boy racers car is me womans mates. Mind you, she could'nt understand why i wanted to pay a lot of money for an old car with no power steering ! She understands what the car is now and tries to educate her dumb mates when they try an take the piss. They shut up when she puts her foot down mind you !

23 Thinking of selling up for that reason exzactly and buying a cos that i cant afford my friends often slag me off who own cossies as well but im attached to the car and im finding it hard , but im trying to get rid so dont have to think bout it i go from there crap buy a mans car (cossie) to i love my rst im keeping it to be honest im gonna end up selling and buying a clio or sommit

Well i'm just 30...but only look mid 20's Bought my S2 back end of '97. Still got it (altho it's up for sale). Just bought a S1. Boy racers had the xr's b'cos they couldn't afford an RS...altho the prices have dropped right down now.

but have had people tell me that the S1 is a 'grown-ups/ real mans' Escort RS in comparison to the S2.

I just like to show newer cars up when they see an 18 yr old car disappear infront of them.

then bought another s1 last year, get called a boy racer some times but usually by my family, was called a boy racer from a collegue who own a vts with neaon so i gave him a spanking on the road and on the back of the head!!!

I'm 28, have had my current S1 for almost a year, never really had any Boy racer jibes although I do get a lot of envious glances from spotty young neds in their saxo's and corsa's. Only ever strayed away from Fords once to get a Fiat Bravo HGT, which I still rate as one of the best cars I have ever driven - it ate Golf GTi's for fun. Folk used to slag me for having that as well until they were a passenger in it, just don't listen to folk like that anymore..

I think the S2 owners will get a bit more "boy racer" jibes cos the cars still do look quite modern. Well, more so than the S1. The S1's are seen as more of a classic than just somethin to screw the arse off and pose in. Only my opinion of course but i am right !
