I'm 29 and own a S2 at the moment. Owned an RS1600i when I was 19, and had 3 series 2's since then. Can't get enough of em. I also get ribbed by workmates for being a boy racer, and the one thing that REALLY pisses me off.............

Im 29 not too far off 30 now and I have just bought another RS Turbo

This is my fourth one and I bought my first one when I was about 23, apart from the 4 RS Turbos ive owned I've also owned the following list of fords thru my 20's

1 2wd Cossie
3 XR2's
1 XR2i
1 XR4x4
1 XR4i
1 Escort Series 1 Looker
1 Sapphire Cossie Looker

So with the RS Turbos thats 13 Performance Fords in my 20's and I bet there's people worse than me.

As you can imagine my missus loves it

yeah i dotn have a series 2 but my mother had a brand new1 back in '87 lol

i drive frst and i think all the rs's are amazing cars in every way look/good go fast and so easy to tune!!!

and they still go for good money!!

all you s2 guys seem to be 22 23 + dont fancy getting a cossie yet no?

im 28, ford and RS fan thru n' thru.
when i was 15 a guy at my dads workshop had a 200 bhp series one had to have that car..
started with a german built carb xr3 which was a S1 replica with 120bhp at 17 years old.
then at 24 i got my mitts on first S2 an 88'rst it was in need of help to say the least.
then a nice straight un modded white S2 thats gone to a good home.

all is not lost buliding a fast road/trackday S1 replica with engine from my first rs.

its in the blood, it all started in 1970s with mums 2ltrS capri and dads mk1 cortina with 1650 pre xflow Vulcan engineering st3 head rs 2000 wheels, rs diff ill stop the list is long...

S2 at 20. had 2wd saph cos at 19 but had to sell up due to crippling running and maintainance costs

I own a Series 1, i first owned it when i was 19 and bought it back 4 years later. I'm 25 now and yes i've had the "boy racer" comments from mates and family, they just don't get it. A mate of mine thought i'd put the bodykit and wheels on myself.....aftermarket kit... so it goes to show what people really know about rs cars.

im 24 owned lads of cars in my time/ audi tt crap, bmw 330 ci posers car bmw 325 cab more shite, vectra gsi boring,merc compresor w**k ,what do i drive now an old escort thats as old as i am. i thought i could get a car that boring people drive but thay were no fun. so why is it that if your having a good time in a car your a boy racer i think lees mates wauld all be driving an rs if ther miss wauld let them .

I'm 23, had the S2 for 3 years and i still get a buzz every time i go a drive, even just cruisin it makes going to work more bearable

I also get the usual xr3i crap too

well done mate.i got a series 2 and had it from new (16 yrs now).Originally had an s2 d reg then another e reg then a 3 dr moonstone blue cossie then my current series 2 mercury grey.cant bear the thought of parting with it and wont even go back to liverpool in it to see my parents in case it gets nicked.started with rs cars in 1987 and now am 44.I thought i must be the oldest on here

Cant speak for everyone mat but Cossie's just dont really interest me that much really - don't get me wrong I do like them (especially 3drs ) and obviously the tuning potential is great but its just the look of the RST that I like - plus the fact that you can have a pretty quick car for not a lot of cash at all - compared to cossies a reasonably quick RST (near 200 BHP spec) doesnt really break the bank.

Think it might have something to do with money as well mate. I'd love a cossie, but would rather own a 3dr or an Escort: but simply don't have the money to get one & service & run it PROPERLY. think that is one difference, it's ok managing to afford to buy one, it's keeping it running using the right stuff which gets expensive after a while.

wise words i once got told: if you're going to buy a cossie: make sure you have twice the amount of the asking price: that way if anything fails, you will be able to afford to replace the bit with the right part & not some cheap replica part.

I currrently own a 88 esc cab 3i.
ive had loadsa cars over the last 7yrs of having them but-even tho i have strayed from the blue oval(cav gsi2k,calibra 16v,calibra v6,omega mv6(ex cop) and a couple of novas(5 to be exact)
all theese have been on my dads insurance n im starting the esccy in my own as of friday!!! its 18 amth more on my own with 9 ppoints(6 -in10 & 3 cd20)
with my missus as a named driver on a provisional

anyways,the reason i got back 2 fords,is my m8 pulled up in his mint 90spec cabbie n the feel n drive took me back 2 my xr2i n 3i days,so i sold the last nova 2 get thiks.

parents think ive bought it just for insurance reasons,but my dads jealous as fuck,specially now as m thinking of doin the s2 to the cabbie,n getting a mk2 mex(rs ) of course

I'm 19 and looking to get a Series 2... Be 20 when i get one (only a month away )

Had a focus for the last year but they're so mass produced there's nothing 'special' to them, but after all the shows last year deep down i've had my heart set on a Series 2

Just out of question - who are all you 20year olds (and under) insured with? I've had a quote of around Ł1000 but i reckon its really pants cover and i doubt they'd touch any mods

i just turned 19

had my rs for a while bought it as a project still deciding whether to strip it and restore it, or buy another minter off here

want a cosworth and always have since i seen them the rs turbo is a favorite of me to and at the age im at its probs the best car i could get, i dont class myself as a boy racer at all just have a Passion for fords especially the old skool motors like these fine examples around
