When I fitted my group A coil I cut the round plugs off the escort loom, and then crimped on new connecters

i carnt really remember now do you not have a wiring diagram with it? all it is ' is a battery 12v supply via a relay so you by pass the coil loom and what ever resistance may be in it so you get battery voltage to the coil!

just got the coil and loom. fitted the coil on existing coil loom with some bodged spade connectors and it made a noticeable difference to starting and off boost pick up. im a bit pessimistic normally so was pleasantly suprised to actually notice anything.

anyway, my loom came today from msd but had no instructions. it seems self explanotary but to clarify. do you bypass original coil loom and run the group a coil off the battery direct to the coil when using the group a coil AND new loom/relay. the loom is a nice looking bit of kit btw. thanlks in advance ps theres an extra bullet connector, what is this for?

just been looking at the loom and it dawned on me, is the bullet connector a pickup/trigger via ecu? the rest is labelled.

can somebody make me a shema please

Firstly locate the old coil and unplug all of the cables, the positive and negative are just a push on connectors so just pull off easily. Then fit the new coil where you have just removed the original one from. Unravel the new wiring loom and mount it in a suitable location near to the battery, connect up the red terminal to the battery positive and the plain black one to the negative side of the battery. Route the harness down to the new coil and push the spade connector on to the positive of the coil labelled with a + symbol. Cut off the original negative terminal (Green wire) and fit a suitable terminal and connect to the new coil on the negative side marked -. Now locate the small black cable on the new loom the one with the clear protection on and pull the spare terminal off the end, cut off the original + terminal (Black cable) slide on the protective cover and strip back about 5mm of outer cable and crimp on new terminal. Connect that cable to the other side of the bullet connector and test. At this point the car should start as usual.
