Unhappy S1 Drivers door won't close!

Hi there!

I recently bought my old S1 back to bring home to Australia with me, only thing is the drivers door doesn't "catch" - it just stays open! This creates a problem with loading it onto the boat to sail it down to me in Brisbane. Ebay is filled with door latches that all say they are not suitable for central locking, so I can't just buy one of those, I was wondering if anyone had any hints on how to repair the latch? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Craig.

have you tried to adjust the part on the car, remove it and see if you can get it to work when off the shell and fitted into the latch in the door. If it locks into place then it just out of adjustment. If it wont lock in place at all then you may need another or try fixing it.

Hi guys! Thanks for the suggestions, it just doesn't catch at all! Tried to manipulate it with a screwdriver and it won't work and it's all in alignment

Thanks

Could you not just temporarily bodge the door shut to get it down to Australia then fix it or are parts rare down under

As far as I can tell this one will be the second one down here, so parts are just not available unfortunately!

out of interest how much would it cost to have a car shipped there?

Do you need to register out there when u get there or just use it?

Im reckoning on a couple of thousand to get her here, plus any cost for compliance for Aussie roads. Luckily shes in need of a full resto so any mods I have to make will be part of that. Once shes roadworthy I just need to get her inspected and registered and I'm good to go
