Default Stainless Lambda Boss

Would I be able to weld a stainless boss into my cast elbow or will it crack?

Thanks Ben

Cast to cast has to be welded by correct procedure as you will probably know, not too sure about stainless to cast though! Depends how it's done and what method you use.

You'd probably be better drilling and tapping it.

Im not 100% but think the closer the turbo the better the quicker it will warm up and more accurate it will be, think the T34 had a lambda boss cast into the exhaust housing?most use the downpipe just after where exhaust joins turbo.

Thanks Ben

No mate, wideband lambda's don't need any where near the heat narrow band sensors do. The higher the hear, the lower the sensor life. I have mine fitted at about sump level, however other still fit them further back with good results.

Delay is minimal and you won't gain anything from mounting it on the elbow other than short sensor life.

An EGT sensor on the other hand could go there.

Mine behind the sump too, mild steel bung in a stainless system - not ideal for strength but it works and will do until i get a 3" system and stainless bung!
My Innovate WB gauge heats itself for 20secs or so before taking any readings, also Innovate state that it should be mounted just before the backbox for optimum sensor life!
