No mate, wideband lambda's don't need any where near the heat narrow band sensors do. The higher the hear, the lower the sensor life. I have mine fitted at about sump level, however other still fit them further back with good results.

Delay is minimal and you won't gain anything from mounting it on the elbow other than short sensor life.

An EGT sensor on the other hand could go there.
