Default VIN plates - help !

Just a quick one - on a Series 2 there are two underbonnet plates - one is the VIN plate and the other is what i would call a "paint plate" as it mentions the paint colour and some other details.

The problem I have is the one on mine is missing - does anyone know if these are generic dependant on colour or alternatively does anyone know what the codes on there are made up of.

If anyone with a Radiant Red S2 can post a pic of their plate and hopefully more than two people can do this i can compare.

Cheers

These are no VIN plates. It's a plate used by Ford to identify the colour, the trim etc. And to make sure it's in the right vehicle a part of the VIN is stamped onto also. You don't really need it. It's just the VIN plate that is important.

When you are doing a nut and bolt resto and rebuild you need it

Just trying to get the car back to as close to original as is possible and it just one other thing that needs to be sorted.

You cant use the colour plate from another car as they are all different.

Thought that might be the case - did think that if i compared a couple of examples i may be able to work out how the codes are made up though.

You just need a sheet of metal of the right size. The rest is just stamping the right codes. As mentioned above, each has got a part of the VIN on it. The rest should have no great differences on S2 RSTs

the last digits of the vin are on the colour plate
i have some that states 'primer shell' but it may also have vin details and not a good thing to have on a car either hence i removed it lol

or a throphy place will make it correct size in gold silver etc and you can get rs turbo or summet on it
i did a fair few and put em on ebay many moons ago, correct size for colour plate recess so people lapped em up as of course rs turbos without colour plates and often ringers (i know i broke loads of em no colour plate, hmm floor number must have fell off over the same bump)

my opinion of course

It's just a square piece of metal with stamped numbers/letters on it. I wouldn't pay 40 pounds for something like that...
