there is a switch in the dash that goes to the boost ecu to increase the boost of my escort i am wanting to take it out but am unsure how to go about it, i havnt opened up the ecu yet to look but im sure someone will know how its done, is it just a case of removing the wire?

The actual name is the fuel ECU this deals with the on load fuelling etc, without this you would have the same management as an XR3I!

The only one I know is as said a "Two stage boost control" this is simply a switch wired into the earth of the amal valve which goes to the ECU, when the switch is closed you run maximum boost but with it open you run lower boost.

and that is how my other car is set up switch wired to amal valve but this one the wire from the switch goes to the ecu, is the amal valve wired to the ecu also? maybe they wired it there rather than running it down the engine bay to the amal valve?

Yes, the amal valve earth is pulsed by the ECU, I personally done mine on the loom itself end as you can't see it and it looks far better than tacky wire splicing showing under the bonnet!

If bit is that yes, remove the switch and solder the wire.
