Well last night I raced an astra Vxr along a straight, he was infront of me and started giving it some so I followed, I was sat on his bumper all the way until I over took him at 120ish, I can't understand how a car like mine would keep up?

All I have done is a unlimited boost ecu, exhaust and running 13psi, apart from that it's standard but I was impressed I kept up with it as they are meant to be 220bhp ish I thought? Supose power to weight is alot of it..

I know things like slip stream and stuff will help but surely not that much? Goes to show how deadly a 240bhp or more escort could be, has anyone raced any cars and surprised themselves?

Raced an evo, 300 brake, did alright to 100mph, in my xr2 though. Really pulled on him, aerodynamics ruined me though.
We'll see in a few weeks how a zetec turbo does.

Astra VXR's are 1230kg with 236bhp, your 980Kg with around 180bhp @ 13psi so....

Astra 191bhp per tonne
RST 183bhp per tonne

Not much in it really

I'm around a 1000Kg and have 231bhp, so thats 40bhp more per tonne than the Astra!
I raced my mate in his MK1 FRS with 293bhp from about 30mph up to 100mph and I was just pulling away but only just! His power to weight was 229bhp per tonne.

yeah mcrae edition isnt that quick, standard they are 208bhp and weigh around 1230kgs plus loose a bit more power through the 4wd

Took on an Audi tt in my RS2000 on a stretch of dual carriage way.Brand new on dealer plates so they were probably on a test drive.As we rounded a tight corner at about 30mph I knew they would boot it.Stayed with them up to 125 ish until we had to brake.Obviously one of the lesser powered tt's,but made my day.

few years back in a orion turbo i kept along side a gtst skyline with a supposed 300bhp, orion was around 190bhp, and in my estate i was pulling away from a 08 impreza sti wrx thing, that realy suprised me that did lol

You think I'm running 180bhp on standard everything? I havnt got it RR'd yet, I'm waiting to put omex on it but I can't be 180bhp..makes sense from power to weight ratio's though..

My brother had Astra VXR which i drove a couple of times - was fairly quick but struggled against a Golf GTi once and nothing compared to my own S2 2.1 ZVH and certainly nothing compared to the Focus RS Mk2 my bro has now.

Tbh Vauxhall's are shocking all round.

Very roughly yes, this is what most stock RST's make at around 1bar of boost, could of course be as low as 150bhp depending on many, many factors.

To be honest it sounds like it should have been close from what you lot say. I don't know if it had anything done to it, I know it's got a dv and is on coilovers, next time I see him around ill ask him.

My mate has got a Corsa Vxr and wanted to race me but I was a bit scared of being shat on but now I'm sure it won't be as bad as I think..

Depends on the driver. I kept up with a young lad in a Seat Leon Cupra R round a twisty A road as he couldn't drive for shit. I was in a Subaru Forester 2.0GL. He pulled away between corners but couldn't shake me

im running 300plus bhp. pulled away quite quickly from the new focus rs. pull away from the average evo and subarus aswell. i leave focus sts like they are going backwards and the stage 3 cossies [330bhp ones]. pull from a audi rs4 estat ethe twin turbo version one [ i dont care if u dont believe me i no what happended!]

i know he has a series 2 track weapon zetec turbo it is insane! mines zetec turbo and 300plus bhp hes one was stripped out and caged with a massive spec and good gearbox and caged etc he just pulled and pulled away from me good driver aswell. and the cossied series ones they got are just MENTAL have a look on youtube! spec one engineering. BOOST are the number plates on BOTH rs turbos series ones ... he has a collection of RS cars all top spec.

the afternoon i got my orion turbo back form NMS i was about 10 miles from home and on a dual carriageway, a BMW came along the inside as they do whilst we patiently queued whilst approaching roadworks. anyway after a mile or 3 of roadworks they ended and i put my foot down and took off like a scalded cat. after that i had some fun with a few german machines and won alot of them. the thing is some of them were diesels but those were the fuckers that had the hardest time loosing! i'm telling you. most of the petrol drivers were genuinely impressed with my car whilst the diesel bods were just cocks about loosing. FACT!

i did the same last night in my 4x4 stage 3 sapph, i no where u are coming from. new focus rs was left well behind and av done lots of evos and scoobies. inc a wr1

In my EFi Turbo Orion running 12psi on a stage 3 t3, raced a 225 megane and it was an even race... A mk5 golf gti, crept on me thru 3rd and i hit 4th and crept away from him. Seat ibiza cupra, 1.4tsi with a revo map on it, making over 210bhp edged away from me only just...

Theres loads of factors that effect the outcome on the road, driver timing, driver ability, weights etc.. I guess they apply to track aswell!

Stupid as it is, I raced my s4 up against my MK Indy 12zxr kit car. knew the Audi was fast and that the Indy would beat it but didn't know it was going to make the s4 look as silly as it did. Soon as i was in 2nd the Indy was gone!

Guess cause its low and it feels fast i thought it must just be because its all open and I've never looked at the speedo from a standing start. Want to get it up the pod now to see what it will do.

I was shocked when i had a race with a car recently. My 328 next to a fiesta mk3 5dr. I gave it expecting him to vanish and the fecker just clean pulled away from me, next set of traffic lights and he told me about the zetec and throttle bodies was really impressed with it.

me and my dad in his 24v mk3 capri raced a mk1 frs off a roundabout. i naturally thought we was in for an arse whippin' and told him not to bother
but...
he came up really close behind and we were slightley in front, he went to overtake and gave it some... me dad floored it
We pulled from him up to 100ish till the aerodynamics came into play and he crawled past with an angry look on his face. Both cars were absolutley screamin

really did suprise me how well the capri held up against it considering its not running as much hp as it really should be
not sure on the spec of the frs though.
