Default Views on these bolts.....

Would like to know your views on these head bolts. What effects if any will they have on the block with having different torque settings?

TBH stock stretch bolts for £8 from your local motor factors handle over 350bhp so IMO it's not even worth messing around with anything else.

Ok thanks lads. Just one thing tho, why do some use stretch bolts and others use none-stretch, what are the pros and cons?

stretch and non stretch will hold the head on fine, although non stretch can be reused.
i've used the same non stretch head bolts on cvh engine at lease 5 times, so paid for them selves at only £24 at the time.

Alright thanks mate. So in a nut shell it dont really matter if you use stretch or non-stretch bolts, both gona do the job. But will you get any movement using stretch bolts when under high pressure?

As I understand it stretch bolts allow for the different thermal characteristics of the iron block and alloy head as they expand and contract at different rates. You should use a stretch bolt on a CVH ideally.

Ok thanks Muz, that does make sence. So i take it then that standard RST head bolts from Ford's will be stretch bolts then? Dont surpose anyone has the ford part number for the standard head bolts?

Cheers

I may have it some where at home, but buddy just call your local dealership. They had mine in stock! For the sake of £40 is it worth messing around?

This is also my understanding of their purpose.

I agree,

For a low power cvh the factory stretch bolts do a fantastic job.
There is no need to retorque them as well. (That is why the factory used them
in the first place.)

Thanks lads, appreciate the advice. Its not until you start to do a job that you begin to question things ,you know what i mean. I agree with what ya sayin, and gona order up the standard ford head bolts. The ones i took off where standard ones, and have worked well.

Thanks alot
