Default Helix Sporting clutch! problems?

any one else had a challenge with Helix Sporting clutch? i purchased one a few months back via demond tweeks, it arrived fitted via my local clutch specialist and ............. snappiest clutch i had ever used!! had to use the back of the seat to get enough power to press it down and then trying to release slowly my godd!!! lol then the ratchet snapped! so i bought a new cable and ratchet, no luck still hulk power to press it down?? so i called helix to ask them! i got well its not the clutch it must be something else? he said well u can take it out and send it back and i will test it! :-/ already £150 in labour so far! so i took the damm thing out as the specialist i trust! asked how long till he can test and receive it back? he said asap test the day it arrives then send straight back! NOPE!!! 3 days in, my cars still on the ramp and £22 postage later for next morn granteed :/ so this continued for a week as he told me his machine was not working?? week 2 he then decides that it might be the clutch and he sends a new one! 2 weeks on the ramp at the garage!!!! as its not like i could just push it out the way! soo fitted the new clutch and still a snappy horrible bloody thing that vibrates when released! but im told it might bed in??? i call mr Helix back said its better but what about the £££ that its cost me for waiting and labour for refit? im told first of all the other machine is broken and he needs to test it on that before he can refund any monies?? and then informs me i have a free clutch and whats the fuss!!!!!!!!?????? so 14 calls later 14 different "personal problems" employees and funeral excuses?? why it has not been tested?? so 2 month later he says £100 should cover it??? hmmm complained and he sends me a £150 :-/ decided to rebuild the engine and in this time put the new clutch in and fingers crossed it will bed in!!.................and yes u guessed it no bedding in!!!!!! still shitty and juddery so back to the garage and back out and the fingers on the clutch are mil differences when closer inspected and causing the plate to vibrate when releasing!! :-/ sick sick sick £££ in and had to use a normal clutch in the end!! ohh and to top it all off the clutch is just and luk with a helix sticker on? the cover had been cleverly grinded and helix engraved on
lol

any one else has these problems with helix?

any clues what i should do next??

cheers Benn

i would imagine that there has to one in a batch thats not right! trust me to get it! but it wasnt just both clutches that are wrong it was the £££ its cost so far and the rediculosly poor customer service and excuses!!! lol i can tell you every personal problem mr helix had for the space of 3 month!! and non valid for why i wasnt delt with much sooner?? he was telling me that loads of people were calling and that they would all have to wait!! i was worried incase he was going bust! :/

does it have a really heavy release over the space of 10mm? almost like a wip like motion and im on about a REALLY heavy!! i stack out the leg press machine at the gym and i have to concentrate every time i was trying to pull away as the bite was so violent!! well that and the judder didnt help either! :/

Hi mate, I've got a Helix 4 paddle clutch fitted to my rs turbo, there quite easy to drive not that hard the only fault with it is when I go into reverse it makes a horrible screeching noise when I lift the clutch up about half way and when I'm driving along when ever I release the clutch peddle in 1st, 2nd and 3rd sometimes it makes a slight noise but I was told by Jamie at Jamsport that some of the Helix clutch's do that and there is nothing he can do about it. A year later my clutch ratchet has snapped due to the heavy duty paddle clutch so I'm in the middle of doing a escort mk5 clutch pedal conversion but with a metal ratchet this time should be fitted by this weekend.

Pish! Once my Helix was fitted it was hard to engage gears almost like the clutch was not disengaging properly. Tried a new cable but still no joy. Have now fitted the Mk5 pedal and it shifts lovely now nice and smooth and never any judder.

Does your flywheel have any marks on it?

sounds like you never had your flywheel refaced when you fitted your new clutch.

i had a helix clutch for years and i never had a problem with it or helix. yes they are heavy but so arte most uprated clutches!

i have never even had to do the pedal conversion in mine its been good as gold so cant understand why you are having so many problems, it really does sound like your flywheel needs a skim, no drama really and should only cost about 30 notes to sort.

I should have my mk5 pedal conversion done by this weekend if it doesn't rain and I hope it does the job like you have just mentioned.

I used a drive torque clutch in mine which you can only get from larkspeed, it was cheaper than buying a AP clutch and they do different stages for what power your running i went for a stage 3 paddle clutch which feels lovely with no problems. im running just over 200bhp and it hasnt slipped once.
