thats why i think its pub talk.
doesnt matter if you got 1 million hp at the flywheel if your only putting down 100 through the wheels.
ive been away from the fast car scene for over 10 years now,and i hate to sound old,but in my day people got slaughterd for quoting flywheel figures cos in my opinion it means fuck all.
my last rs had 260 fly,220 wheels,386 torque.
but i would never say i had 260 bhp.
useable power that counts in my eyes
but if it makes people feel better, each to their own

cheers for the support guys, i understand everyone has there own way of building a engine and how much to spend or what parts to use, does anyone know why the turbo is kicking in at 2000rpm i thought it would of kicked in lower the rev range?

Thats quite early mate a stage 3 T3 for example would be another 500rpm later at least.

cheers karlos, im sure its 2000rpm or onwards when the turbo kicks in guna have a proper check once the car is on the rollers bit difficult with both hands on the steering wheel concentrating hard on the road ahead lol.

Ahhh sorry, i thought you meant the car was ticking over at 2000rpm! 2000rpm is about right for a normal/stage1 T3.

T28 RST- what was your spec for the 200+ Wheel Bhp at 16psi?

Karlos, 99ron isn't a prob for me - Tesco's or Shell im guessing..? I don't mind spending out on the head and cam work, providing i retain some driveability - which i would have already lost putting the Stage 3 T3 on, altho its boosting strong by 3,300rpm so a 3,000+rpm power band is good for me, it also drives nicely off boost which im guessing is the standard CR helping out.

The thing with the rollers is they only "calculate" the flywheel figure so it can vary greatly and not even be that accurate... There is 2 schools of thought on this - People want to know what power their engine produces (flywheel bhp) and other want to know what power they are putting on the road (wheel bhp). So it's each to their own i think.

hi guys, to those who are intrested i didnt get a chance to get on the rollers got out of work late and end up turning late at the rolling road will defo get it on next week for confirmation, had a very good long talk with the rolling road operator who is a great guy and remebers the car as it was last on the rollers 6months ago and can confirm 202bhp and 196lbft and the rolling road printout and paperwork is from his garage, also said this kind of power at low boost is not rare he also had a white rs turbo cab that put out similar power a year ago, he put it down to well engineered rebuilds and the parts that you choose to use.

so ive left a deposit on the car the insurance is sorted collect the car on tuesday

just reading through a few threads about brake upgrades, the fronts look easy enough to tackle with the cosworth caliper and disc swap, what is the benefits with a rear brake disc conversion apart from the looks? im just lookin for good reliable stopping power cheers sam

not worth doing rears mate.
its all about the fronts.
drums look wanky, but not alot af braking is done at the rear so best left as is.
cossie front set up,or wilwoods or something if you can afford em.
set going on here with discs for 220 i think
bargain

Hi Sam. I got a rear disc conversion and apart from the looks mate if I'm being honest there is no difference to drum apart from cosmetic and cost more to maintain.

My congrats on your purchase bud! shame to read all the sarky comments on here, not usually what you'd expect from fellows RS owners, get enough of that on JAP forums lol. Its not all about power, its a classic RS which will only increase in value. The spec does sound pretty good though mate and im sure theres plenty of power available there. Just enjoy it!!!

while we are guessing powers, what you reckon I can get outta mine when done.

1640 low comp specialised engines block lightened and balanced, stage 3 head big valves flowed potted etc, t2 cam, grs twin pass, megasquirt1 v3 cossie injectors. thinking of stage 3 t3 or maybe cossie t3?? not sure on turbo yet. wanna run 20 psi, what ya reckon?? :0)

Alot to read here but i got slated for saying my rs turbo run just over 170bhp at 10psi.Even tho i got dyno graph's showing my dyno runs in the past.Believe it or not i don't care.As T28 Rst was happy to make fun of me on this site and rs owners club.I'm aware what my motor make's and have graphs backing me up.But hey what else can i say.

So to answer this topic, yes it can be possible but normally consists of good engineering!
