Radiator Original Or Alloy?
Just wondering peoples views on this? Original is actually a pattern part brand new or better with alloy? Also seen a few new alloy ones but have bent cores from laying around, these ok to use or better staying away?

hi mate its knackered tank split and fed up of buying used ones as this will be 4th in a year people saying yeah perfect arrives and they are shit lol will brand new pattern part be ok? Or are they not copper? Have 82 degree thermostat now dont know if this will make a diff to the life of the rad.

I have never had an alloy one m8 always had copper core rad apparently they dissipate heat better, whats a re-core or a new pattern part cost you??? as an alloy one is about £200 isnt it?? how you feeling now???

i've got a copper core rad with brass end caps. Its excellent. it does away with the shite plastic caps that split and should really outlast the car now. it cost me £120 to have build, new core too.

I got mine done in Birmingham, a place called ready rads.

For the same reason as you, the plastic ends kept splitting on mine so spoke to them about making one fit from another car, they said they'd simply make me some brass ends.

People think that because Copper is a better conductor of heat, that a copper rad will be more effiecient! Aluminium is only just behind copper in terms of thermal conductivity and the whole radiator can be made of it for maximum heat transfer...
Also the copper core on a standard rad has small soldered fins, solder is bad for thermal conduct so this hinders it somewhat, whereas the aluminum fins can be welded to the core resulting in no loss in thermal conduct.
Aluminium ones are sold as an upgrade for a reason! Look how many people use them and have seen an improvement!
Mojo's copper/brass radiator sounds like a bargain at £120 for a new item, half the price of the cheapest aluminium rad's and it gets rid of the plastic end tank blow out issue. Personally i can't stretch to an aluminium one atm, so i'd go for this option. £120 is cheaper than a re-core too!

120 for recore?????? I can have recore done for 50 and that aint mates rates. my choice is either mojos option awaiting reply from company or airtec alloy rad? Seen a few genuine ford ones on ebay nearly new and new condition but decided I dont want plastic tanks to split yet again.

wow I feel lucky about my recore price now although I dont need it as it was tank that split not core lol still no word back from that company mojo but holding out for a reply would be good to get them to do it. Was yours for a turbo? With the outlet for the water cooling? GM Radiators in Glasgow says he dont want to do it to complicated
