well my problem is the car is overheating quite dramatically just from idling in the driveway to the stage its burbling away in expansion tank.
so i have to diagnose that first.
then which i previously purchased and msd fan switch and thermostat prior to this fault im going to fit those.
im just hoping that its one of these at fault and im killing two birds with one stone, but iam very very much an amatuer i do have a friend that has and can help me along the way but i bought this car as a rolling project and im determined to do what i can myself and with the help of you guys lol.

Oh yes i remember on the other topic you posted. That Fan connection ain't standard in your picture showing the spotlight connection near rad.Might be worth checking that all works.Have you tried running the car to mid temp and see if fans kick in or not?If they dont turn the car off before she gets too hot.Hopefully them items will fix your problem. If not im sure will find the problem for you mate.

I'll be honest mate, bubbling in the expansion tank is probably the headgasket. i went through 2 radiators and 2 expansion tanks before i diagnosed mine.
its an expensive game with these cars. you probably have a minor fault with it, its pressurising the water system and causing to overheat.

The White plug is a water temp sensor mate. It connects behind the left hand side of inlet manifold.the sensor it connects to has two water hoses going to it and it shares the bracket with the air auxilary valve. Not too sure what effect this would have if not connected.
Think I got a pic of it at home which I'll post up for ya later if your not sure where it goes.
If other guys are running there's without this connected then I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with your overheating prob. But it obviously serves a purpose or it wouldn't be there.
And the abs plug is yellow btw

thats my fears! or atleast that the overheating has caused the head gasket to go! oh well another job for me to tackle that i have never done before! time to buy that torque wrench i have always wanted!

well i looked at where that plug is meant to go and cant see it fitting anywhere! ill take pics later so far tho i have by passed the thermostat after much debate as to wether it was the right plug because as much as i can read a haynes manual they dont have much pictured in there (they had pics of the ohv tho) anyway after following the top rad hose round i was convinced it was right so i bypaassed it and the fan works so thats a bonus!
ill have a closer look with my mate he is a mechanic, at times like this i wish i wasnt a sparky!

no one has mentioned this but you asked about fan switch? Isnt this the blue one on thermostat housing? As for thermostat you have to remove housing mate 3 small bolts (8mm) done mine today for 82 degree as fitted front mount if you havent got would advice a gasket kit too, got mine off ebay included rubber, paper gasket and metal clip which holds thermostat in. As said above if wiring isnt standard then look for switch inside car? As this how mine was run before I got it. Just follow fan plug see where it leads to. Hope this helps. Also white plug does go where steve said I just refitted my engine and that what colour mine is and it goes here.
