Default For anyone interested in custom dash dials/gauges...

Wanted my speedo, rpm, fuel and water temp to match my boost, oil press and temp so this is what I did...

Cut out old middle section and remove all the unwanted back bits, I've retained the warning lights at the top..

Cut perspex to size/shape and spray satin black..

Fit new dials to perspex and screw to original surround..

Sort wiring, I did it this way to use the RST loom plugs in case I ever need to use stock dials again..

Fit to car and enjoy!

I'll get some pics in the daylight tomorrow!

They are soldered to the original circuit membrane, insulated with tape and left full length just wrapped up so if I ever need to return anything to normal I can and if I ever need more length on the wires there's plenty there, does look a mess though!

Rev counter works off either your coil or if your EFI the ECU, MPH is calibrated over a predetermined two mile drive or in my case a drive whilst waiting for the GPS counter to hit two miles, fuel gauge has 10 presets for various fuel senders and temp gauge has it's own sender that fits direct in place of the stock RST one.

Very nice, Karl. I want to replace mine with Stack stuff so I've got more accurate water temp and speedo etc, but for it to look OEM. Tha'ts a good little guide.

Couple of daytime shots...

I'm thinking about losing the glass (well plastic), because the dials are quite bright they show up all the scratches (never seen them before) at night and compared to the other three dials they look noticeably duller and a little blurry, cant see it in the photo's and it's probably only me that picks up on it (being quite critical) but I will have a play and see.

Karlos loving the gauges m8... Also not seen the centre pod before, i'd like something similar for my gauges - top work!
Also once fitted it looks nice and tidy, who cares what the holes etc are cut like and wiring looks like - you don't see em with gauges fitted! Really nice touch on an OEM+ look i think.

How did you wire in the "dimmer" function down by the drivers air vent?

Cheers dude!
Centre pod is a one off done by Twins on here.
Yeah exactly, the bezels cover the edge of the holes which is why I wasn't arsed about a perfect circle, the wiring is a mess but it's all soldered so no bodges! lol
The dimmer works as normal because the dials are wired into the stock loom, although it doesn't dim quite as much as before

Can you not polish the plastic up to take the scratches out? Or is the plastic a little soft and would just make it worse?

I thought about that and I do have a cracked one I can experiment on! But you can feel a lot of them with your finger nail so too deep I imagine

I had three to choose from and even the least scratched one once fitted and the dials were illuminated looked terrible, the light they emit is a lot more direct than stock dials and really shows them up, I bet if you look closely yours will have more scratches than you realise I didnt think mine was scratched at all until I fitted these dials, thanks very much for the offer though I appreciate it!

But... I have just spent an hour polishing mine and it looks amazing!! :O
The difference is truly incredible I've never seen one look so clear, almost like glass now! I just hope it looks as good at night when the dials are illuminated?!

What I did was use 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 grit wet and dry with warm soapy water and then plastic polish on the outside face, then just the polish on the inside as this had almost no scratches, works a treat
