escort adjustable tie bars,
Hi folks. Can anyone help.Im enquiring on behalf of a friend of mine.Hes got a 88 rs turbo which has been stored for 14 years. He was in the middle of tidying up the underside and got kinda delayed..lol.
He's gonna fit coilovers and has heard that it moves the rear wheels in the arch and wants to combat this by fitting some adjustable rear tie bars hes seen. Now is this the case when fitting coil overs and if he does fit the tie bars how does he go about setting them correctly so that the wheels sits right in the arch.(ie is it simply a case of making sure the gaps even between the front and rear of the arch)
Also hes after some lower rear arms for the back.Does anyone know where he can get some from.Failing this i believe you can get adjutable rear arms for the rear like a multi link set up.Are these readily available and if so where can you get these from.
Many thanks in advance GLYN
p.s i'm gonna get him to join up so he can show some pictures of his car,its proper timewarp with a ggr 1905 conversion thats done approx 400 miles since completely being rebuilt by them 14 years ago.

Hi mate,
Dont think the rear mutli link is available to buy new anymore, mef motorsport use to make them.
Wonder if compbrake would consider knocking some up, there appears to be plenty of interest.

Yeh get some pics up, sounds good!
My rear "toe" went out after i fitted rear poly bushes, was gonna get some adustable bars myself, then its a case of getting the car to a suspension/geometry alignment place and get them to set it up.

You can replace the rear arms with rose jointed links but I think these would need to be made up (custome). The rear toe on the Mk3 and Mk4 is adjusted with washers behind the "donought" bushes on the end of the tie bar where it attaches to the hub assembly.

My wheels need to go toward the front of the car, so the shims will be of no use, as im guessing they push the wheel "back" in the arch... Cheers anyway, as i didn't know that.
Rear adjustable arms look good tho!

There are plenty of shims there from the factory to remove if you want more rear toe.

Hi Glyn,
Finally got on here.
Thanks for all the help to all. Will def be purchasing some of the adjustable tie bars. Intend going low so will need to pull the back wheels forward.
Will get pics and info up on here as quick as I can but for all of you who don't know me already I'm just resurrecting my RST S2 from dry storage for 14 years. Its got a tickle over 41k on the car but 746 miles on a £10k 1905cc build by Graham Goode. I'm the 3rd owner of it with the first owner being Sue Collins from Collins motorsport. They took it into low comp and 220bhp within the first year of its life and hand a 5 page spread in peformance ford in 1990. I loved it like that buy wanted more so shipped it off to Graham Goode for a 6 month engine build.
When taken off the road I was a regular 3rd place in concours but got knocked back to 4th by a new rebuild. Hence taking it off the road for nut and bolt pampering session. 2 houses and 1 son later funds are heading its way again. Yeah.
Will need lots of help / knowledge and parts along the way so will be using this site alot more.
Thanks again
Jeremy
