Default Help needed with setting boost....

I've recently had my engine rebuilt and during the running process turned the boost down to assist.

Otherthan having the car setup... Is there a technique when setting the boost? What will happen if it over boosts?

I'm currently running a standard ecu.

If you are running a std ECU you wont see more than 9-10psi IIRC.

The only advice I would offer is take it to a tuners and have it set up. There is alot to take into account when increasing boost and if you have just rebuilt its not worth running the risk of damaging a fresh engine.

What he said.

Not worth messing up your engine for the sake of a few quid to get it done properly

yeah sayin that tho if he has the amal valve bypassed he will have nothin to restrict the boost to 8-10 psi, how did u turn boost down mate? do u have a bleed valve or did u do it via actuator? either way as said u should get it set up at a tuners if u donnt knoow what your doing

As you car would have been remapped so it can do so, boost control doesn't matter as it does just that and controls the boost, but electronic has advantage in that ECU can control boost, manual and it can not.

The boost WILL still be restricted even if you bypass the Amal valve which would be a crazy thing to do as the standard map will not allow more than 10PSI max.

As to OP question as said you need to get it setup, it's not just a case of running more boost you need the fuel to go with it as well as well as correct timing curves, a whole multitude of things need to be setup.

Yes you need to open it and see what chip the ECU has in it, normally if it's a remapped chip it will have a label on stipulating this.
