Default What Gearboxes Fit The RS Turbo

Hey guys wanting a stronger and higher top end box, do any diesel ones fit rs turbo with rs driveshafts. Not fussed about the LSD was just thinking about the benefits and non benefits of diesel one or similar? Is it worth changing or just leave as is? Thanks for any info.

Stronger box's that will fit are any IB5 (mk5 escort, Ka, Puma, etc..) with the starter in the right place (some have them at the rear) and that run a cable clutch (some are hydraulic).
If you want longer gears then yes a diesel box will of course work.
The BC gearbox's (mk3, mk4 escorts and fiestas, orions of the same year) are all as weak as each other, including the magical diesel box that everyone seems to thing is stronger! lol

later spec bc box with the bigger bearing as standard plus fully rebuilt with a 3.5 final drive will get you exactly what you want.
speak to jamsport they run them and tested on stuart collins car.

Bigger bearings but the same flexible casing

Yeah the IB5's have more 'webbing' around the casing which prevents flex and the bigger bearings too, they are by far the best option for a direct fit replacement and cost Ł50 or less!
Lots of the newer Fords have IB5 box's, Focus and Ka for example, but as I said you'll need to find one with the starter in the right place and a cable clutch, lots of variants.

if you want a ib5 box then speak to a company called GEARS they do one on the shelf for aroundŁ300- Ł500 brand new with an uprated lsd.
google the company they supply alot of rs turbo owners club members up north like scotland so they do work well.

mtx75 is what a lot of people are using for they high power cars however if you want to stick with your standard driveshafts then this conversion is not for you.
