track car.
Whats needed to be done to have a reliable s2 track car ? am talking more on the lines like sump, fluids, tyres, hoses, etc etc.
Just that i have had a thought of having a few steady track days, well i say steady but not going mental like the boys/ girls who do it on a regular basis.
Another reason is i got a F**KING speeding ticket the other week, its to dodgey giving your car abit of stick on the roads to many coppers with cameras.

The car is brill mate been told in the past its to clean to track day it, but then you cant blast around on the rounds without getting points resulting in sky high insurance or getting banned its just pointless mate to be honest. I do love having a steady drive around but then the urge of having a good blast taks over !

standard sumps are fine mate ! i asked the question about a baffled sump on here a few months back and got told standard sumps are a very good design (as long as its genuine and not aftermarket).

get it on track! spec seems good r888 and a decent catch tank standard disks and yellow stuff pads and decent brake fluid, maybe some braided brake lines and polly bushes, but if it a really clean car id take it easy, very easy to get carried away-red mist and all that, i built an astra gte caus i didnt want to stick my 3 door in a tyre wall at knockhill!

If its an oldish engine then recommend getting one of those pre-turbo oil filter feed pipe thingys from autospecialists just to save your turbo from the abuse.
Magnetic sump plug is always a good thing and make sure its been setup first with no leaks.
Other than that bigger FMIC unless you already have one fitted.

The only downside i can see is using MFi. Chances are at some point on the day you take it out the fueling will go out of sync causing it to run like shit. For a track car you need to have something reliable management wise. At least something that wont change as and when it feels like it.
As for components my own track car has very cheap and easy to find and buy parts to get it round the track very well. Lots of people go way over the top and end up with a motor thats just good for top speed and cant get round a track very well.

Lovely car.One thing I noticed is the position off the oil cooler. From personnal experience, that oil cooler is NOT cooling the oil in any way as there is no proper airflow through it.Cooler needs to be sitting square,so the air is forced through it.Regards,Micky

what is it with everyone wanting to turn their car into a track car these days lol. Theres tonnes of track car projects and some perfectly good smart road cars being ripped apart to be stripped for track. Just my opinion.
