put in gear and get someone to press the brakes or put something in the vented discs and wedge it up against the caliper carrier

as above, press the brakes, dont damage the discs by jamming something in them though

i have no brakes on the car, so if i put it in gear will it be ok to just undo it that way? then just basically tap the driveshaft out the hub and pull it out the gearbox?

ill get the spare wheel out and put it on each side and crack the nut best way?

Do the shafts just pull out the gearbox? and just tap it out the hub end?

i made this mistake before, had someone one the brakes and in gear, and nearly lifted the car off the axle stands trying to undoe the nuts..not something i would reccommend personally..at least not with that technique anyway

yeah..you might have to renmove the bottom arm from one end to enable the hub to move enough..had to do that on my s1 but didnt have to on my mates rsi

thats why you shouldnt be pulling up, you should be pushing down!! that way the car stays put and you dont risk the car sliding off the stands!

ith no brakes your gonna struggle so use the spare wheel. providing theres enough of the cars weight on that wheel when its on the ground and the car cant move then you'll get them off.

the nuts were on that tight, there was no way they were coming off pushing down..couldnt get enough strength into it..might get more muscles for the next time ha..and the car felt like it was moving anyway..

15 minutes a side.mind, the left hand side (iirc) is left hand threaded.dont pull up on the breaker bar, stand on it,that way you wont loose teeth when it comes slack or lift the car.once youhave it slackened off a few threads use the hub as a sort of slide hammer, this will pull the inner cv out of the box.put some rags down as the oil runs onto the engine cradle and drips everywhere.it helps to have the steering lock off as to get the shafts out of the box or out of the hub you need to turn the hubs in at the front by pulling the back out,i.e to get the n/s shaft out turn the wheel full lock to the right, then pull the hub out at the front and that will give enough clearance for the shaft to slip out.you are going to have to undo the bottom ball joint, the pinch bolt simply taps out after undoing the nut then use the pry bar to lever it out of the hub.

Yep,all done, couldnt undo the hub nut, so just took anti roll bar off, TCA off, and track rod end, then just one pull they both came out, the drivers side just came out with ease,
