non geniune will need some fettling to get to fit at all, and quite abit more to get them perfect.

having said that though the company you buy from is probably a big factor.

non genuine panels take more fitting as they do not line up great and they are made from a cheaper metal,

but you can get them to fit right mate as both front wings on my car are not genuine ones as is the front panel but the front panels are not great as the hole cut out are $h!t but then again mine are all filled in lol

I had the option of replacing both front wings on my Mk3 during resto due to some rot up at the top near the scuttle panel.
My mate who prepped it said that the existing (original) wings repaired would still last longer than brand new non gen ones...

A friend of mine fitted a none genuine crossmember to his mk4 escort and nothing would fit right! He managed to find a new/old stock genuine part which was, of course, a perfect fit and everything fitted. If I was restoring an old escort, especially an RS model, I would only use genuine panels. If I couldn't find them then I would buy a MINT car already sorted!

as said it can really be night n day when it comes to the difference ,

and rember not all aftermarket panels are mate in the same place , weve had italian ones , chineese and jobbies made in tiwan ,

a panel beater worth his salt could make a aftermarket panel fit and look spot on ,

granted if budget allows and there available id say go gen , but in current times there either way overpriced of just not available ,

as for how long it will last , any panel gen or not will only last to the same extent as how its prepped n fitted and how the cars looked after ,

me and karl have been working on a s2 that had sills fitted , cant be that old , as the sticker inside was like new , but it had rot to bits as when they fitted it they bare metal'd there areas to weld and never protected the areas ,

99% its all down to shoddy workmanship ,

I fitted 2 front wings and a front panel to a MK3 fiesta. The front panel and one wing were Hadrian and one wing was genuine Ford. To be fair, the Hadrian wing fitted perfectly, exactly as the Ford one did and the front panel only needed minor playing with. I think Hadrian are, or used to be the best copies, but I think even they have stopped making certain Ford panels.
